Chimney Rock Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon – 2005 – 9.0 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

I reminisce when I drink Chimney Rock’s flagship wine—their Stags Leap Cabernet makes me think of the beautiful quarters and the quintessential yesteryear architecture set with the beautiful hills in the background.

This wine has notes of violets, roasted blackberry, cardamom and Pioppini mushrooms.

A wine with a significant stride; supple tannins backed with gentle acid; this wine presents with Blackberry confit, white pepper, cedar and dash of cardamom.

Milbrandt Traditions Washington State Riesling – 2006 – 8.3 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

This Riesling presents white peach, clovered honey and mineral especially pronounced on finish.

Millbrandt Vineyards Washington Merlot – 2005 – 7.5 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

Millbrandt Vineyards Washington Merlot was terribly un-interesting. The wine was not corked it was just not noteworthy. I was disappointed and I always anticipate Washington reds are going to be at least memorable.  This certainly did not do it for me. I will keep moving forward witih drinking other labels from Washington.
