I look forward to trying more wines from this wine region; this along with a Viognier that I tasted hold promise for wines to come. This wine has notes of Red pear, blueberry, bay leaf, and field mushroom.

Sawtooth Snake River Valley Viognier – 2006 – 8.9 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

This is a handsome Viognier and could be very telling of what is to come from Idaho. When I think of Idaho I think of high per capita wine consumption but don’t necessarily think of this as a wine growing region. This Viognier is elegant in its acid structure; preponderance of the following notes: white nectarine, Kadota fig, white pepper, and gold kiwi.
