Oyster Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc – 2007 – 8.7 – James Meléndez /Jaimes the Wine Guy

A very mild Sauvignon Blanc with subdued notes of nectarine, mineral, hint of freshly cut grass and dash of mace.

Drylands Marlborough Pinot Noir – 2006 – 8.8 – James Meléndez / Jaimes the Wine Guy

Pronounced acid on first sip, subtle black pepper, layered with interspersed  fennel, cherry and rose petals notes; each delicate and build to a very pleasant wine.  A very good value–I have never purchased a New Zealand Pinot Noir for this price point ever.

¡Salud!

Purchased at Wine Club San Francisco – $10.99

Lawson’s Dry Hills White Label Marlborough Pinot Noir – 2007 – 8.9 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

A lush Pinot Noir; the heavy black Muntok pepper, rose petal, dessert spices and cherry make for an elegant and romantic wine.

Kim Crawford Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2006 – 8.8 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

This is a very dry Sauvignon Blanc; plenty of exotic notes; passion fruit, papaya, pineapple and gold kiwi; this wine is perfect for the most hearty of seafood dishes. A beautiful straw color is elegant and is as good as it tastes.

Seven Terraces Marlborough Pinot Noir – 2006 – 8.8 – James Meléndez /James the Wine Guy

I love Pinot’s from New Zealand but that does not always like the vintage or producer. I expect a lot from Pinot’s regardless of where they are born. I always a knock my socks off Pinot. But this was not the love affair that I so dearly longed for–this wine had head from dusting of red peppers, some plum and a bit deprived on the medium red fruits, some leather and some underbrush.

Dog Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc – 8.9 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc exhibited fresh cut greens, allspice, apple pie and white nectarine. Good as a stand alone Sauvignon Blanc. Sauvignon Blancs are not always wines that need be served only with food; occasionally there are gorgeous wines like this that would make an excellent mid-summer wine as well as a wine to be served with just cooked crab.

K & L Wine Merchants – $17.99
