A.R. Valdespino El Candado Pedro Ximenez Sherry – NV – 9.5 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

This is a great packaging.  There is an actual padlock safeguarding the contents of this wine.  Candado in the Spanish means padlock.  A. R. Valdespino is a heritage sherry producer—spanning back to 1264.  Sherry is so mis-understood and under appreciated.  The Pedro Ximenez is an evocative Sherry– there is no other wine that even approaches the quality and uniqueness of this wine.  This is a dense, dark and viscous wine.

A dazzingly Pedro Ximenez wine with notes of truffle honey, clover, lavendar, dried Turkish fig, dates, pine nuts and vanilla.
