Witch Creek Valle de Guadalupe Nebbiolo – 2007 – 9.1 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

This Nebbiolo from the Guadalupe Valley (Valle de Guadalupe) is proof positive of how this unique wine region in Mexico and is due for more attention.  It seems this region is producing very nice quality wines.  Imagine if these varietals are growing here—what else is planted? This wine presents with notes of prime season cherry and plum, anise, pepper, and scented fennel and vanilla.

¡Salud!

Witch Creek Valle de Guadalupe Aglianico – 2007 – 9.0 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

You don’t often see Aglianico coming from outside Italy—and I was surprised to find an Aglianico from the Guadalupe Valley (Valle de Guadalupe) Mexico.  This wine is an homage to it’s brethren across the Atlantic.  This wine well balanced; slightly vitreous—lighter ruby red, vivid acid structure and notes of fresh red plum, clove and cinnamon, vanilla and scent of red flowers.

¡Salud!
