Penfolds Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz – 2006 – 8.8 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

This wine is quite different from it’s sister–Bin 28–but there is nothing wrong with that.  This shiraz has a full expression of it’s appellation…some people mistake it for subdued quality.  There is nothing subdued about this wine – an expressive wild berry composition that does not mark the tongue with this singular profile instead it is a prelude of things to come—mushroom, moistened earth, ground winter spices and comes together on the finish.

Majella Coonawara Sparkling Shiraz – 8.7 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

Sparkling Shiraz is always an exciting wine for Fall and holiday dinners. There is nothing like serving a sparkling red wine; minor in fizz but high in uniqueness and flavour and presentation; I am a fan of sparkling red wines and no one has created such a vast array of lovely red sparkling wines like the Australians.
