Edward Sellers Cuvee de Cinq Paso Robles Red Blend – 2004 – 8.9 - James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

March 31, 2008

This wine contains - 27% Grenache, 27% Mourvèdre, 25% Syrah, 13% Counoise & 8% Cinsault; a interesting wine that does not have; a predominate or grape that overwhelms the other varietals.  This wine is sophisticated and bold and yet elegant; blackberry, plum, Morel mushroom.

¡Salud!

Fife Vineyards L’Attitude 39 Mendocino Red Blend – 2005 - 9.1 - James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

March 19, 2008

This is a Syrah, Carignane, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Cinsaut blend; an epic homage to Rhone varietals. And who would have thought that these grapes would be from Mendocino.  This wine has an intense vibrancy, a depth and character that could not be found if it was a single varietal.  This is a stellar wine; amazing depth; gorgeous silky tannins; dark red fruit Coulis, cinnamon quill, chocolate, Porcini, forest floor and leather.  A wine that I pine to experience again.

¡Salud!
