Obscurity El Dorado Charbono – 9.2 – 2009 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

I was not aware of this Charbono; I thought I was aware of all current Charbono in production and yet did not I know about this one from El Dorado.  I found this at the SF Chronicle Wine Competition.  This wine gives notes of blueberry, blackberry, anise, pepper, and hint of baking spices.

¡Salud!

Kachina North Coast Charbono – 2009 – 9.0 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

I understand the grapes are from Calistoga and Mendocino.  Notes of smoked blueberry, blackberry, vanilla, slight chocolate and white pepper.

Robert Foley Napa Valley Charbono – 2006 – 8.9 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

There are very few Charbono producers only a half dozen in California.  A curious grape; deep inky color; thick tannins and deep dark roasted red and black fruit; dense and aromatic; slight chocolate and splendid herbaceous finish.

¡Salud!
