Gary Farrell Ramal Vineyard Carneros Pinot Noir – 2007 – 8.7 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez
Rich red floral bouquet, balanced roasted red plum, mild spice and herbs—viscous and thicker than expected tannins.

Truchard Carneros Tempranillo – 2005 – 8.8 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez
This is unusual to have a Tempranillo in the Carneros—I am not sure if there are other acres planted in this wine AVA. This wine is light and shows some of the bay influence. Red and black pepper, smoke, anise and dark chocolate.

Domaine Carneros Avant Garde Carneros Pinot Noir – 7.8 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez
This wine had a synthetic cork, which in my view, interferes with the flavor profile. This wine begins and ends with significant acid; black pepper, violet boysenberry and ancho chile.

Clos Pegase Mitsuko’s Vineyard Carneros Chardonnay – 2005 – 8.9 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez
This Chardonnay exhibits a lot bright fruits; nectarine, citron, Meyer Lemon, kumquat; pear tart, nutmeg and ground clove on finish.
¡Salud!

Etude Carneros Heirloom Carneros Pinot Noir – 2005 – 9.1 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez
Like the Heirloom tomato a complex and lovely fruit; complex on every level scents that are haunting; those scents are usually of the orchard; and for me a Plum orchard is positively thrilling in Fall time. This is a scent you will not forget. The wine is dark and brooding but still vitreous; the wine has a dash of Eucalyptus and cacao and ground clove. A wine for special occasions.
¡Salud!

Etude Carneros Pinot Noir – 2006 – 9.0 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez
Etude’s Carneros Pinot Noir is reserved in this wine not a glossy, predictable Pinot Noir like many from Carneros which can be like cotton candy or overly reddened fruit; this Point Noir strikes an even balance between earthiness and a splendid rose petal – violet profile. The earthiness is akin to lovely scented mushrooms and Fall leaves in an orchard. Think subtlety and sophistication when you approach this wine.
¡Salud!

Laird Family Ghost Ranch Carneros Pinot Noir – 2006 – 8.9 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez
This wine demonstrates its Carneros heritage with exquisite floral notes of violet and rose; spice notes of ground pepper and anise, and a slight hint of sanded wood and earth.
¡Salud!

Arger-Martucci Carneros Pinot Noir – 2004 – 8.8 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez
A delicate and lovely Pinot Noir owing much of it’s heritage to the Carneros. The wine exemplifies blackberry notes though a dark vitreous coloring, violet and a dusting of chocolate.
¡Salud!
