Marisol Colchagua Carmenere - 2004 - 8.5 - James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

November 5, 2007

Carmenere the grape often mistaken as a Merlot grape has made a mark in Chile.  This wine subtle on acid has an abundance of dark cherry, plum and cranberry.

Chateau Saransot Dupre Listrac-Medoc – 2005 – 8.4 - James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

November 4, 2007

This wine is 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 56% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, and 2% Carmenere. This wine has a complexity woven in and yet for the each varietal I could not find the wine anything other than high acid and very dry; and I love dry wines!  I could only detect flint and cinnamon.
