Anthill Farms Demuth Vineyard Anderson Valley 2005 – 9.1 - James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

August 26, 2007

So far this is my favourite Pinot Noir from Anthill Farms; Demuth Vineyard in Anderson Valley produces this delightful 2005 Pinot Noir. This is a nice structured Pinot with each phase of taste controlled and even a slight crescendo on the finish. This wine presents with virtueous rose petal, cinnamon, filbert, oyster mushroom, and cedar.

Goldeneye Anderson Valley Pinot Noir - 2003 - 9.2 - James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

June 8, 2007

This is a well put together Pinot Noir from one of my favourite appellations in California: Anderson Valley. This is not Napa or Sonoma or anywhere in California’s wine growing districts. Something about it is not Europe or California and that makes it special. The beauty of the landscape and the weather are pure delight. This Pinot Noir is a delight to the senses and the nose is captivating. This Pinot had the right amount of fruit; some baked cherry, shitake, some apple pie spice and a pleasant red pepper. This wine spends a gracious amount of time in the barrel and that is not a problem. The oak does not overwhelm this Pinot but gives it some tender care.
