St. Amant Amador County Tempranillo – 2006 – 8.9 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

High country Amador County fruit producing a wine that gives a nice homage to it’s Iberian roots.  This wine exhibits roasted red pepper, Heirloom tomato, a gentle dash of baking spices and finishing with the scent from a plum orchard.

St. Amant Amador County Vintage Port – 2006 – 9.1 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

St. Amant produces quite nice Lodi wines and I have to say their vintage Port was such a nice homage to the mothership’s Port.  This wine is not just a fortified wine but a wine utilizing Portuguese varietals: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Souzao, Tinta Cao, and Bastardo.  This wine presents with honeyed blueberry-blackberry notes with ground allspice.

Bonneau Egret Amador County Zinfandel – 8.5- James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

This wine a bit loose in terms of focus—notes range from Raspberry-strawberry Coulis and slight hints of cedar and baking spices.

This Zinfandel while aggregating plenty of berried fruit; other notes that might have been present were hard to detect.
