A curious grape, one that I seek out for it’s unique signature–superbly dry yet packed full of flavour. A book end of dryness—beginning to finish and in between notes of blackberry, blueberry, Cardamom, anise, pepper, and dark dark chocolate.
Elena Walch is the wine maker and producers 22 wines including this one. Her Chardonnay has a delightful name–”Above the Clouds,” Gewürztraminer, a Passito from Gewürztraminer, Pinot Bianco and Müller Thurgau.
Lagrein is the offspring of Teroldego and has a relationship to Marmezino, Refosco and Syrah.
I developed a trust and affection for the qualities that Lagrein presents– a unique and delightful wine.

I have written up all of the each of the wines below in an individual entry in my blog. I had a full-spectrum experience in Alto Adige wines; it was wonderful to experience these varietals that call this special region home. I enjoyed the usual suspects in Alto Adige varietals and the marked different in these varietals found elsewhere have a unique provenance to it’s terroir.
