Tikveš Rep. of Macedonia Rkaciteli – 2011 – 9.0 – James Meléndez / James the Wine Guy

This wine is Rkatsiteli (synonym in Macedonian is Rkaciteli).  Alcohol content of 13%
This wine gives notes of white peach, rainier cherry, white pepper, white tea, fennel, cinnamon and linger finish of apricot.  Well crafted bottle of wine and I do expect more wines from this producer to land in the US–I can wait to taste more wines from this region and also taste this producers Vranac.

Quinta Cruz Alta Mesa Silvaspoons Souzão – 2009 – 9.1 – James Meléndez

This wine is 12.5% alcohol content.  Souzão also spelled Sousão coming from well known 300 acre Silvaspoons vineyard in Lodi’s Alta Mesa sub AVA

Sousão can be termed as a wine giving rustic flavour characteristcs and raisin. I don’t like to use the term raisin because that could be mistaken for wines imparting a flavour characteristic from raisined Saozao berries not picked out on sorting table.

Scent is fresh and clean, newly sanded cedar, forest floor and bramble patch. Flavour characterisitics of tart cherry, Acai, chocolate, Malabar pepper and Tamarind.

V. Sattui Napa Valley Petite Sirah – 2009 – 9.0 – James Meléndez

This wine spends 18 months in 16% new American and 24% new French oak and 60% seasoned oak 150 cases produced.  Fruit is sourced from Allias Vineyard in Rutherford - 14.8% alcohol content.

Nose of blueberry coulis, new leather, EU and sandelwood.  Flavour characteristics of blackberry-blueberry pie, EU, lavendar, cardamom flakes and Thyme.
