Line 39 Lake County Cabernet Sauvignon – 2006 – 8.0 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

Lake County a source of many good wines–Zinfandel, Syrah, Viogner and Cabernet Sauvignon.  This wine was light bodied; and had looser focus on it’s light red fruit and some semblance of earth and wood.

Domaine Carneros Brut Rosé – 9.0 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

Nothing like a sparkling Rosé–there is a nice variety out there and many very expensive.  This is a very difficult wine to make so when you see the final product you experience a wine that comes with great effort.  I say–”good things require great effort; great things require extraordinary touches.”   This wine with a delicate rose color gives notes of just picked raspberry, yeasty bread, almond and the scent from an orchard in Fall time.

Herederos del Marqués de Riscal Rioja Reserva – 2004 – 8.9 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

A classic Rioja composed mainly of Tempranillo and a very small addition of Graciano and Mazuelo.  Bold acid structure framing this medium body wine; a plenitude of roasted red fruit–cherry, red-black plum and a delicate dusting of Fall spice and a hint of field mushroom.

Domaine Allimant-Laugner Alsace Riesling – 2007 – 8.8 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

This is a very dry Riesling–much drier than expected; slight and delicate touches of Meyer lemon zest, toasted almond and white floral notes.  A acid profile aptly suited to food.
