Halter Ranch Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon – 2005 – 9.1 – James Meléndez / Jaime Patricio Meléndez

Central coast is the next Napa; a very large Napa.  There seems to be no wine grape that does not excel here—the same cannot be said for Napa.  This Cabernet Sauvignon has character and elegance and strength all at once.  The tannins are rich and chewy; pen ink and one could nurse one glass all evening.  This wine gives evocative images of leather, tobacco, underbrush, black and bold dark red fruit, allspice, and cardamom.  A very satisfying wine.

¡Salud!
