A polished and surprisingly delicious I do not think there is a lot of people who think of Argentina as a place for Merlot; but this wine will change your mind. It is cutting edge; remarkable notes: espresso, red plum, baked dark red fruit, nutmeg and cinnamon.

This wine could have been much better if the closure was a real cork or screw-cap. I was terribly disappointed as the wine had promise. The wine exhibited subtle hints of white peach, white rose petal, dried apricot, papaya; beautiful acids make this a very friendly wine for food but also approachable as a stand-alone wine.

A big disappointment was the synth cork.
I served this chilled and upon tasting was not as appealing as when this wine started to warm up; an almost Sherry-like consistency; butterscotch, warm maple, freshly baked brioche. This wine, if selected, should be served slightly chilled but not overly so.

I usually don’t think of Argentina as a producer of Merlots; Merlot is more commonly thought of in Northern terms – Calfornia and Bordeaux. This Merlot is not a common overly red berried wine; this is brethren to the highlands of Napa Valley and Carneros; beautiful notes: streamed mineral, boysenberry, freshly sanded wood, field mushroom, and cinnamon.
Silky tannins match the beautiful acids—any easy match for any red meat or steak-like fish. From initial taste to finish this wine is complex and yet easily appreciated; plenty of wood notes; bramble, cedar to Piñon; chocolate ganache, Oaxacan simmering spice, and dark bing cherry.
Luigi Bosca Mendoza Gala 2 is a Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot red wine blend. This is a rich, luxuriant wine that I found compelling as a wine to have with dinner but easily as a stand alone wine or even as a wine to enjoy with chocolate.
This wine is abundant with Heirloom tomato, underbrush, ground clove, Criollo chocolate, and blueberry gelee.
Merlot from Carneros…yes..it’s true. I am a fan of Merlots from Carneros and higher elevations in Napa. Merlot seems to be having a renaissance above the valley floor. This is a bold wine, gorgeous tannins, and splendid notes of blackberry confit, cedar box, black Krim tomato, Porcini mushroom, and allspice.
